This delicately chased three-tined coin silver dessert fork is marked for R&W WILSON PHILADELPHIA. Robert and William Wilson were active in Philadelphia circa 1825-1846 and were known for their excellent solid silver workmanship. The fork is chased around the terminal and again around the U-shaped pierce on the heel and all along the thicker tine to the tip. The twist handle is sturdy and unbent. The maker's stamp was heavier on the left and therefore the mark is deeper, with "Philadelphia" abbreviated or not completely stamped. The terminal is monogrammed with an intricate script cypher. This handsome piece weighs 32 grams (1.1 ounces) and measures 6¾ inches and it is in excellent condition.
