Shakudo Style Sterling Cufflinks

Fun pair of vintage shakudo style cufflinks, mid 20th Century. They feature a man riding a giant carp (a Japanese symbol of gooduck). These are 1 1/4 inches wide. The back is stamped on both: "MADE IN JAPAN STERLING 925". There is no evidence of repairs. Set weighs 13.4 grams.

True shakudo is an alloy of gold and copper which can be patinated different colors, usually a bronze color, then highlighted with gold and copper accents. These cufflinks are sterling that have been patinated gold and bronze in the shakudo style. Fun cufflinks with little or no wear.
