This late Victorian napkin ring is covered in beautiful engraved pansies. The name engraved on the back is Hattie, a short form of Harriet. The company, N.G. Wood and Sons (1871-1922), was located in Boston and the hallmark is one of their earlier examples, dating this ring to the late 1800's.
Perhaps this napkin ring was a token of love for a cherished "Hattie" in late 19th century New England. In addition to pansies, it features lovely brite-cut foliate designs. It weighs a substantial 30 grams and measures 1 5/8" in diameter. What a delightful addition to a silver collection. Or perhaps a gift for someone special you have "loving thoughts" for, and want to show them in a very Victorian way.
The lovely damask linen napkin in photos is one of a set of 12 Belgian Art Deco Period, dinner napkins I have listed. They are brand new, old inventory in the original box with tags.
