French Clock by Japy Freres, painted toleware, 1900-1920
The face shows Arabic numbers with handsome steel hands. The clock mechanism is original and complete bearing the Japy trademark (see photos). The mechanism is in good condition but requires a professional cleaning to be in working condition. If interested, we are happy to arrange this service with our local clock maker. Overall, the clock is in very good condition with normal wear for its age.
Japy Frères was famous for its wall clocks at the turn of the 20th century in France and throughout Europe. This model was popular and existed in various colors and styles. Few survive, especially in their original condition with their mechanism in tact, making this piece quite special indeed.
It is a true French treasure!
Dimensions: 13 inches diameter.
