Gorgeous late 19th century enamelware pitcher from France - pale blue with hand-painted flowers, in excellent condition.
Pitchers like this were used for bathing before the day of indoor plumbing. A bowl and pitcher, like this one, would have stood in each bedroom in a fine to middle class home and perhaps, only in the kitchen or washing room in more modest homes.
This piece is very beautiful and rare in such fine condition. Besides telling a story of the past, it makes a gorgeous decorative piece in any home.
It is from the late 1800's, 1880-1900 approximately. This can be seen from the shape, the riveted handle of the pitcher - riveting was used until soldering was adopted in the 1920's, and the hand-painted decor.
