Antique UPW Clam Shaped Turquoise Oyster Plate

Antique UPW Clam Shaped Turquoise Oyster Plate For your consideration, an Excellent Clam shaped Oyster Plate from the United Porcelain Works, patented January 4th, 1881. The 4 oyster wells with painted "eyes" sit on a Turquoise bed of seaweed, surrounded by other sea life & plants. One well has a pink crab. There is a sauce well shaped like a pink Scallop with gold lining, a crab claw & a muscle all on a molded raised white porcelain ground. Gilding to the top hinge of the clam shell as well.

Marked UPW with the Eagel head & the patent date. Shown in the Karnitz book, "Oyster Plate on p. 27. Measuring 8 1/2″ X 6 1/2″ & in EXCELLENT condition.
