Vintage 1950's Pen and Ink Watercolor Prints - Set of 2
Each print measures 8" by 6"
The images are city streets, palms, ocean, ship and lighthouse in the background....possibly Puerto Rico? I'll let you be the judge...
Numbered on the backing with the initials "BCD" or "BED"? and a copyright symbol at the bottom of the prints themselves. They were in their original fifties...ish frames but the frames did not fair as well as the prints, to the test of time. Wood and not cardboard was used for a backing with a cardboard insert that is stamped with the point of purchase being 600 Broadway, NY - 600 Broadway is now the home to Hollister and part of NY's Flatiron District. This interesting part of Manhattan is named after the Flatiron Building (it's naming due to it's now famous flatiron design). The Flatiron Building was built in 1902 and considered a "groundbreaking" skyscraper at the time. Over the years the Flatiron District was home to the "Toy District" until the early 1950's, when it became home to NY's many photographers, artists and associated businesses...and now home to many web-related businesses. Just a little historical info that also gives an idea as to the dates of these prints.
Very good condition with some minimal wear to the edges.
I am in no way an expert on vintage illustrations and have described these prints to the best of my ability...if you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me know.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
