Vintage Cut to Clear Aubergine Crystal Decanter Set Germany

There really are no words...this set is stunning in every way and I'll let the pictures tell most of the story.

This set was brought to the US in the 1920's from Germany (with possible Bohemian beginnings) and kept in the same family until just recently when I was fortunate enough to have it come into my possession.

In darker lighting the set will appear almost black, as the sun comes through, you'll see more of the ruby color and at times, it even has a purple hue depending on the lighting. I love the design, I love the color...it's just one of those sets that you don't come across too often.

Decanter measures 10.5" high and 5.5" wide. Glasses measure 2.25" high and 2.5" in diameter. The decanter holds 16 ounces and the cordial sized glasses hold 2 ounces each.

In absolutely beautiful condition with a small chip on the base of one of the glasses (see last pic at left)...relatively smooth to the touch and only on the base. There is no cracking of any kind. All other pieces are in excellent condition.

I have dated this to the 1920's, as that is the beginning of it's history that I'm aware of, but it could be much older.
