Vintage 1950's Westmoreland lattice milk glass bowl with a wildflower bouquet floral motif. Very pretty and a great console bowl or fruit bowl.
Westmoreland Glass Company was founded in 1889 and ceased operations in 1984. Western Pennsylvania was a popular locale for the glass business and Pittsburgh is said to have been the center of the industry in the late 1800's. Westmoreland began making candy containers (in the pre-plastic era) and interestingly... glass lights, knobs and vases for cars. Another interesting tidbit was Westmoreland's strategy at hiring employees by offering them free natural gas (plentiful in that region) as an incentive to come to the area. Maybe more info than you were looking for...but I found it too interesting not to share:)
Measures 12" in diameter and 3" in height.
Westmoreland "W" mark on bottom - see last pic on left.
