Mid Century Ardalt Lenwile White Ceramic Owl Pitcher
I just love this guy! An adorable lidded pitcher standing 9.5" high and 7" wide. His handle is a feathered extension of his back and the loose fitting lid, a tuft of feathers.
He is a product of Ardalt Inc., Corp which registered it's first double A mark in 1945. Ardalt was located at 95 Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Many of their pieces (especially those marked Lenwile) came out of Japan, although the marking was attached to items from other countries, as well.
He is in very good condition with one small (4mm), smoothed over chip to the side of his lid (only noticeable under very close inspection) and some very minor nicks...however there are no cracks of any kind and only the one small chip mentioned above. A closer look at pic #2, at left will show the chip however it does look more like one of his feathers (center area near ear edge of lid).
Pitcher holds 5 cups or 40oz.
Label reads Hand Painted Ardalt Artware Japan.
...A perfect gift for the owl lover!
