I think this old gal must have worked in a munitions factory during WW II and experienced a tragic accident causing her to lose an entire arm clean off the shoulder. Fortunately it was her left arm, not her right, and as a right handed worker she was able to carry on in support of the war effort. She never stopped smiling, I think: she has a determined but cheerful look about her. She is a muslin doll stuffed with cotton just over 11 inches tall, She has a silk, hand made summery dress and a pink cotton overcoat for chilly nights. Her little hand embroidered bonnet has pink and blue flowers, setting off her beautiful eyes. I put her circa 1930 - 40 but always so hard to tell with folk art, make-do types. I picked her up in new england several years ago: was going to re-sell her but my mom fell for her and she has lived with my mom until just now. Now, she's looking for a new home where she can share that quiet, cheerful determination with a new admirer
