This estate BOARDMAN PEWTER beer mug tankard features a bright high polished finish on the body of the mug / tankard and a satin finish on the decorative handle. This Boardman Pewter Tankard Mug holds 14 oz. and measures 4.25", 3" in diameter at the rim and 4" in diameter at the base. Incised on the bottom with BOARDMAN PEWTER. Very good condition with only a sprinkling of light surface marks. Never engraved. The glass bottom is intact and strong - sturdy no-tip base.

Boardman Silversmiths, Inc., began in 1798 when its founders,Thomas Danford Boardman and Sherman Boardman started their pewter and silversmith business in Hartford, Connecticut. Boardman Pewter items are hand made in the USA.

Today's pewter does not tarnish and will keep its lustre with a minimum of care. It should be washed in hot soapy water and dried with a soft cloth. Never put pewter items in a dishwasher. If through neglect it has become dull, clean with a metal polish prior to washing. Always polish in straight lines, not in circles, for best results. Finally, remember, in buying a piece of pewterware today you are buying just one small part in a tradition which dates back centuries.
