Ambrotype of Young Man in Gutta Percha Union Case - 1855-1865
Here we are offering a 1/9 plate size ambrotype that measures 2X 2 1/2 inches. It is encased in a very nice gutta percha case that has no damage! Not even a chipped corner. The image is of a young man from between 1855 and 1865. This was the time period that ambrotypes were made. I have removed it from the case and photographed the back so you can see the black. The image itself is in good condition with no major issues and the case is very nice with a tight clasp and hinges. The overall dimensions are 2 1/2 by 3 inches.
