EAPG " Westward Ho" 5 Inch Compote circa 1879

Here we have a Westward Ho compote that is the 5 inch in diameter size. This compote stands 7 7/8 inches tall to the top of the finial. This was made in 1879 by Gillinder & Sons of Philadelphia. The pattern has sometimes been referred to as Pioneer and Tippy Canoe. It is in the American Pattern Glass Book 1850-1910 by Bill Jenks and Jerry Luna. The compote base features a frosted scene that includes a buffalo, a log cabin , and a deer. This is one way to tell if this is a reproduction. On a reproduction, you cannot see the fur on the animals and the deer has a open mouth. On an original, you can see the fur and the deer's mouth is a straight line. As you can see, this in NOT a reproduction and guaranteed to be original. The finial is a crouching Indian that stands 3 7/8 inches tall. He is standing on a frosted base with logs and other items on it. There is no damage what so ever to this piece. All in all, this an uncommon piece of EAPG which a serious collector could appreciate. Free shipping and insurance are included in the purchase price! Thanks for looking and questions are always welcome!
