7 Inch Chinese Cinnabar Vase with Stand - Old
Here we have a very nice cinnabar vase that stands 7 inches tall with its wooden stand. Cinnabar is Chinese lacquer ware that consists of layers of the reddish lacquer over a metal base that is then carved. These are primarily from the Orient or more specifically China. That is the only place this color can be found. This vase is carved with various florals and what appears to be lotus. There is blue enamel inside and on the bottom. The deeply carved lacquer is over a brass base. This is not a reproduction and feels satiny. It is safe to say this piece is at least turn of the century and may be older. As I am not an authority, I can't say for sure. There is no damage what so ever to this piece and it would make a great addition to any Oriental or Chinese art collection.
