Novelty Roger Price Droodle Cup - 1954
This little cup is covered with "Droodles," which were invented by Roger Price in 1953 as a syndicated feature, and published as a book by Simon and Schuster the same year. They became such a popular craze that Price hosted a television game show in 1954 on which Carl Reiner was a panelist. More books followed, and in 1982, Frank Zappa used a Droodle as cover art for an album. So this little cup has quite a cultural history in the US. And if you've never heard of Droodles, perhaps you remember Mad Libs... Price was the co-inventor of those too, along with his friend Leonard Stern, then a writer for the Honeymooners, whom Price had met when they were both writing for The Tonight Show. Sounds like a fun and exciting crowd.

Condition is great with no chips, cracks, or repairs to report. This little cup stands 3 1⁄8 " tall, and measures 3 1⁄2 " in diameter across the top, a squat shape. Signed and copyrighted "Roger Price 1954."
A fun cultural artifact. Ah... and in case you were wondering exactly what a Droodle is, Price defines it as "a borkley-looking sort of drawing that doesn't make any sense until you know the correct title." Perfect!
