Bébé Bru Jeune R 9

Not all Bebe Brus from the Paul Girard era of the Bru firm are created equal -- pity for the others, because this one is a winner! Standing twenty and one-half inches tall, details of this exceptional example include a perfect head that is marked Bru Jne. R. 9. She has slightly side-glancing, (something the Bru firm did on occasion) paperweight eyes in an unusual shade of hazel, with nicely painted lashes and brows, an open mouth that features an upper row of natural looking teeth and a definite smile, plus pierced ears and a light brunette human hair wig styled in soft curls. On a jointed wood and composition body that does exhibit the "Bebe Bru 9" stamp on the doll's bottom, the paint finish is original but it appears that the arms and hands may have experienced some fading due to sunlight. Otherwise, the body exhibits normal wear. Mademoiselle wears a darling bebe dress in cream and spring green silk, with lovely lace accompaniments, plus several pink organdy rosettes punctuate the piece. A fabulous straw chapeau that is lined in matching pink organdy, and marvelous antique shoes complete the look -- which is sublime.
