I have for you this evening a very nice example of a piano baby by the master makers of the form Gebruder Heubach. This charming miniature crawling girl baby is made entirely of bisque porcelain and is well molded and decorated with delicate features and pastel colors. This model is older than most and shows it in her pose and form and the style of her gown. She is very sweet with black intaglio eyes, blond hair and red lips and clothed in the cutest little pastel blue gown coming open in the back that so many collectors love on these pieces. If my research serves me well this more than likely would have been made to adorn the top of a small child's piano holding a miniature shawl just like the larger models were used as accent pieces for full sized pianos holding full sized shawls. Because children often had access to these smaller models very few have survived and I found less than a handful in all my research and none as old and charming as this little gem. Please take a look at all of my pictures and be the judge. A real charmer I assure you and a collectors dream.
Item dimensions and dating: This pieces measures 5" in length and stands 2" at the tallest point and I believe she dates from the 1890's by the rare "GH DEP" mark and style of her making.
Condition report: This baby is in very good antique condition with the only issue being some loss to the pads of her fingers with light chipping and one thumb is shortened but I really can't tell if that's in the mold or if its chipped off. Besides that I find no other chips, cracks or crazing. She does exhibit general age appropriate wear.
Buyers note: There are more pictures available upon request.
