Large Brightly Colored English Transferware Handled Italianate Design Copeland Spodes Serving Bowl c1890
Large handled bowl in vivid greens, reds and yellow. The central bowl design is a rural scene in Italy with a bridge over a stream with buildings, trees, people fishing, sheep, and pigeons feeding. There is a board floral band on the inside rim. The outside of the bowl has a recurring pattern of buildings and bridges, also in the same bright colors. The base has a band of flowers and the handles have a circular printed motif.
The marks on the base read Copeland Spodes Tower England with the numbers 2 6237 20
The bowl measures 10" diameter and 5 ½" tall
Condition: The bowl is in excellent condition for the age. There are no scratches or wear on the beautiful interior. The only damage is a 1 ½" hairline crack on the rim.
Over the top, beautiful large piece with all the bells and whistles.
