Hexagonal scalloped edge Japanese Imari porcelain plate with flowers, butterflies and tripods late 19th century
A colorful shallow hexagonally-shaped plate with designs of flowers, butterflies and tripods in red, green, gray, overglaze enamels with underglaze cobalt blue. The central panel is circled by blue lines and is painted with a flower arrangement in pot or vase and the outer band alternates between red and blue. Underneath has designs of ruyi fungus in blue underglaze. The footring is unglazed and the base is glazed
There are no porcelain markings or labels.
Measures 9 ¼" wide x 1 ¾" tall
The condition is very good and the plate rings true. There is wear to the gilding, with just faint vestiges of the original. The central design shows wear to the overglaze red. There is a small chip or kiln flaw on the underside.
