Blue and White Japanese 19th Century Porcelain Teacup with Landscape

This nicely sized blue and white teacup a very well painted landscape design which harkens back to classical Chinese landscapes. The painted scene is of mountains, sea, trees, boats and village houses. The glaze has a wonderful rich, thick feel to the glaze and the cobalt blue used is rich and dark.

There are a series of three lines on and just above the well-potted foot rim. A kaku (square-type) mark appears on the glazed base.

The cup measures 3 7/" diameter x 2 ½" tall

Condition: The cup is in excellent condition except for a hairline crack running for 1 ½" along one wall to the rim. You can hardly see it.

The cup reminds me of classic hand-painted Chinese porcelains of much earlier periods.
