Antique Victorian Pressed Glass Match holder of a Basket and Chick c1900
A wonderful whimsical finely molded basket with chick match holder. The detail is great. The chick has feet underneath which protrude from the base and finely molded feathers and features. The basket weavings and loop handles are also well molded. The glass feels sharp flinty and there are imperfections in the bottom of the basket glass. The chick's feet are actually sharp.
There are no markings or labels.
Measures 2 ¾" long x 1 7/8" wide x 2 ½" tall
The condition is excellent. No chips or cracks.
The Victorian sense of fun and whimsy is represented by this utilitarian piece. Small enough for the beginnings of a large collection.
