Magnificent Large Chinese Porcelain Tea Caddy, Kangxi Era
A truly superb Qing Dynasty Tea Caddy. Excellent overall condition, no damage or repairs. Measures 13" (33cm) Tall, by 10-1/2" (26.5cm) Wide.
Museum quality throughout, minor kiln mark near the top seam which does not affect appearance or value.
The calligraphy is part of a poem which is an Ode To a Scholars Day: "The elegant mood hasn't ended yet with lots of fun; then zither, chess, poetry and painting enter the picture".
The calligraphy along the top edge, above the three tea drinkers, translates as: "Forever harmony, beautiful Jade treasure plaything" which is a mark used during the Kangxi Era.
Our thanks to RubyLane Member "P.J." for the translation.
