This beautiful tea cup and luncheon saucer plate is marked on the back in red, Haviland & Co, Limoges, and in green, H&Co, L, France. According to those marks, the plates could date anywhere from 1888-1931. The plate measures 8.5" long and 7" at it's widest point. There is also a very light embossed number-either a fanciful # 2 or the number 7 and 6 drawn together. Painted with pink and pale purple asters or carnations, the edges of the plate are slightly fluted and the cup holder has a nice rope detail. One edge is gilded. The cup is embossed at the top and bottom edges and has a gilded handle. It shows light through the porcelain and is very lightweight. The condition of the two pieces is wonderful-it doesn't look like they were used so there are no chips, cracks, or utensils dings! About in the middle of the plate there is a slight smudge in the finish which you can only see when held sideways up to the light. I could not get it to show up in photos. It is very detailed in the floral painting and very delicate in the colors, too! Free US shipping.
