Mettlach 1/2 Lt German Stein
Attractive and very desirable & collectible 1/2Lt German Mettlach beer stein cataloged as "Blacksmith & Cavalier" in Gary Kirsner's "The Mettlach Book". It has the incised Mettlach castle mark on the bottom with mold #2639 and an 1899 date mark.Item is 9"T to top of thumb lift. The quality of the inlay craftsmanship is unmatched to this day. The Mettlach factory burnt down in the 1920's. The top of the lid is also etched/inlay showing the two subjects shaking hands. The stein is in mint condition.
