Six John Winthrop Sterling Teaspoons

International Sterling introduced the John Winthrop sterling silver pattern in 1911, a classic Colonial design that would go with anything. Governor Winthrop was the Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony between 1629 and 1649. Each one of this set of six small teaspoons, measures 5-1/2" and is monogrammed with a beautifully engraved old English letter "B" at the end of the graceful stem. Back of each spoon says "Sterling" with the International logo of the head of an Indian brave and a tiny letter capital "B". The design of the back is as pretty as the front, with a raised center line down the middle to pointed "V" at the heel of the spoon, much like a veined leaf. These estate spoons are very old, have a lovely patina with some tiny dings and scratches, but no bends. The feel of old silver is wonderful. I personally like the various engravings on sterling, a work of art in themselves, but if that is not your preference, the initials can be buffed away. Thank you for visiting.
