Lovely to look at, this remnant from the Edwardian Era should be put to good use, and it is the current fashion to use these beautiful handles of umbrellas or parasols from Victorian and Edwardian times to use them as handles for ornate magnifying glasses. This particular handle measures 12" long and is marked on the base metal tip of the stem, "Pat. Apl'd For" and a small cartouche with what looks like an "NRW" co-joined beside it. The tarnish on that part makes it difficult to see. The higher quality gold over a lower carat gold is starting to wear on the top part and in some other parts with the chased decoration. There is damage on two of the segmented MOP pieces, hence the lower price. It is a charming piece, with an elegant look. Perhaps you would like to convert it for a magnifier for your library! Thank you for visiting.
