Woolen Heart Pincushion from 1870s

This very early heart shaped pincushion from the 1870s or before looks as though it has been made of wool challis, perhaps from an old Log Cabin quilt. Though slightly faded and shelf dusty, the 5" x 5" heart is so charming that I have kept it as decoration for over 50 years. Some of the strips are in good condition, but some are wearing through, as shown in the photos. As a Victorian lady's sewing necessity, it is a piece of sewing history, having seen much love and use. It is a perfect Valentine for a special seamstress! Thank you for stopping by.
