1890 Victorian Unsilvered Glass Ornament, Scrap, Tinsel

This Victorian blown glass unsilvered Christmas ornament is swathed in tinsel and hangs from four tinsel supports. A die-cut scrap of Jesus as a young boy holds the Bible with IHS in his lap, and is attached to the center. A tiny silvered gold glass bell hangs from the top where the four pieces of tinsel come together at the loop. The very thin blown glass is a luscious pink color. Glass is not broken, though some of the pink paint is beginning to peel on the inside rim of the balloon as well as on the indented underside of the bottom. This is one of the earliest of the rare unsilvered Victorian ornaments, ca. 1880s, and a truly lovely piece of art. A wonderful find! Thank you for visiting.
