Embossed German Die-cut Calendar, Boy, Pony, Dog
This is not Great-grandmother's scrapbook die-cut! Up for sale is a large 13-1/2" x 15" heavily embossed die-cut of a little boy of Victorian times dressed in his sailor suit introducing his new pony to his much loved dog. The calendar advertises "Pianos, Player Pianos, Phonographs, Records, Records, Sewing machines, Supplies and Repairs for W.A. Edwards at 230 North Third Street, Coshocton, Ohio" while displaying a tiny complete 3-1/2" x 2" complete calendar. Printed "Germany" at the bottom right in tiny letters, the calendar's color lithography is truly beautiful as only the Germans could produce on their sophisticated printing presses. This wonderful glossy printed piece was placed against a piece of corrugated cardboard and shrink wrapped to preserve it before I bought it years ago. I have never removed the wrapping, and the calendar is in excellent condition with a couple of small bends at the upper left corner. The tiny 12-page calendar stapled to the bottom of the die-cut, was printed on inexpensive pulp paper and has aged to a light tan. It is no wonder these magnificent pieces of art were hung on many household walls - or longer (with an updated calendar)! Not often does one find ephemera from the 1920s in such great condition. It could be framed as a one-of-a-kind gift for an advertising buff or other special person. Thank you for looking.
