Original 1910 Shaker Postcards, Mt. Lebanon, NY
This offering is for two postcards of Shaker buildings from Mt. Lebanon, NY, postmarked September 2, 1910 from New Lebanon: black and white RPPC shows the "North family buildings from the South, Shaker Village, Mount Lebanon, N.Y." and is printed at the top front; and black and white RPPC. front marked, "No. 52, Shaker Meeting House, Mt. Lebanon, N. Y." Front of both postcards are in very good condition, and when I bought them years ago, the dealer told me she had removed them from an album, so they have the remnants of paper and evidence of having been attached with narrow strips of something at the horizontal ends of each card in the album. Each green, one-cent Franklin stamp has been cancelled, and you can still see that the cards were sent to someone in Elizabeth, N.J. Both divided back cards were printed in Germany, although distributed in the USA. The North family postcard has an Excelsior logo at top back left, and Shaker Meeting House postcard was published by H.M. Gillet. Although posted, both cards have survived their century by aging gracefully, and are certainly frameable if you should so choose. Thank you for looking.
