Miniature Sterling Teaspoon Pin, SB

Measuring just 2-1/2" long, this tiny vintage silver teaspoon pin is marked, "Sterling" and signed SB in a small oval cartouche on the reverse. The mark is indicative of the Silverman Corporation, founded by Archibald Silverman, and was in business from 1898-1965 in Providence, Rhode Island. This wee spoon is from the late '40s when the practice of silver companies gifting a bride-to-be with a miniature replica of her sterling pattern in pin form made these popular. The pattern of this spoon is not known, but looks quite similar to Lunt's "Modern Victorian", a classic and attractive design. The safety catch holds the pin secure to prevent loss when worn. It still makes a delightful gift today for any Miss from 10 to 80. Thank you for stopping by.
