German Miniature Pincushion/Half Doll
This tiny vintage porcelain pincushion doll, or half-doll as it is sometimes called, is a miniature of the ordinary sized lady dolls often used in the sewing room. She measures only 2" high, less than half the size of many of the other dolls. Popular in the 1920s, the small dolls got lost or broken over the years and are not as easy to find today as they once were. The German dolls, in particular, have delicately detailed features and are very desirable. Marked "Germany" on the edge of the rim at the waist bottom, she has four sew holes to attach the pincushion, often shaped like a skirt, to her waist (always a tiny one, to be sure!) The demure miss has a very sweet expression as she holds a bouquet of pink roses in her arms. This would a great package tie-on for a budding seamstress, or to add to your own collection!
