This sparkling 6" tall American Brilliant cut glass sweet pea vase (a wide mouthed short vase) is a lovely tricornered shape whose delicately notched stem sits on a flat, rayed 4" diameter base. Flaring out from its 1-1/2" diameter stem, the petunia-shaped scalloped rim measures 5-1/2" from corner to corner. A large hobstar is in the center of each of the three panels alternating with a crossbar and fan. The person who cut this vase was a master of his art, because it was exquisitely cut during the early part of the Brilliant period with the rays, hobstars and crossbars all meeting perfectly at the points on this beautifully clear glass. I can see no maker's mark, but neither can I see any damage, although there surely must be flea bite or two on a piece of this age. There is wear on the underside of the round base where it sat on the mantel or table. Years ago, when my mother-in-law gave me a cut glass water pitcher that had been one of her wedding presents, I started to collect other pieces. Of all of them, this delicate vase is my favorite - probably because I like sweet peas so much! Thank you for looking. Please email me if I can help you in any way.
