The base is 9" x 4" and he stands 10" tall. On the bottom is a clear sticker that says, "Altermann & Morris Galleries Dallas,Texas, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Houston, Texas. According to the artist, the piece is called "Lion Rock" and was created shortly after his move from Botswana to the USA. Ullberg's first bronze in the United States was cast at Art Castings of Colorado. It was cast from a plaster cast of a wildebeest entitled, "Migration," which was one of 15 that he had brought to Denver from Africa. Migration, which was cast in July 1974 in an edition of 15, established Ullberg as a sculptor in America. "Lion Rock" would have been done in 1974 or 1975.

About the artist: Kent Ullberg is a Swedish native now living in Texas and Colorado. He lived for seven years in Botswana, Africa and served the last four years there as curator at the Botswana National Museum and Gallery.
