Edwardian 10kt gold opal heart drop earrings.

The fire opal in this pair of screw-back earrings is remarkable, as is the craftsmanship. Opal is very difficult to work with without it bursting because of the high water content of the stone. Just imagine someone at the turn of the last century carving out the hearts that are the center of the 10kt gold heart shaped drop. Around each heart are button opals with beautiful blue and pink coloring. These earrings are not marked, but test positive as at least 10kt gold. From tip to tip they are just shy of 1.75 inch. The small opal cabochon second from bottom on earring next to the ruler is cracked, but holding well. The earrings need a good cleaning as well. Priced according to condition and rarity.
