Antique Hand Carved Soap Stone Circa 1900 measures approx.6" tall and 10 1/2" long and 2" wide. Floral design with many details, in shades of red, Grey, and Off White. It is in great condition.
Soap Stone has been used as a medium for carvings for thousands of years. It was first used in Egypt, China, India, Iran, and parts of the Americas. It is also called Soft Stone or Green Stone. Soap Stones come in many colors and variations. It is used all over the world. It is not as hard as Jade but produces more details than Jade.
