This fabulous 19th c Virgin Mary made in France is an amazement to me. She is made of wood, painted, has movable jointed arms and legs, and exquisitely gowned. Her gown is of satin over brocade trimmed with knots of cord, there is lace ruffles on her wrist, and her head covering is lace. Her facial features are pure serenity. She stands on a elaborately carved platform of wood. There is slight damage to her face,( does not mar the beauty), and she has fingers broken off of both hands. She stands alone 13 1/2" and on her platform- approximately 16 1/2" . The platform is 8" across. If you collect antique Religious figures, this one you will cherish!
