The name "Tiffany" instantly brings to mind high-end luxury items. Tiffany quality is in a class by itself, which is why the company has remained an icon to this day. The antique pieces are especially coveted, and their designs are always timeless. This is an excellent example of just that caliber; a sterling silver centerpiece or flower frog. The sterling bowl has a shell pattern, with almost geometric engraving around the perimeter. The edge of the bowl resonates in shape to the pattern. The interior of the bowl has initials engraved, "OSS" beautifully done in such a way it almost just looks like a design meant to be there. The top, which would hold the arrangement in place is an ornate design in brass, which has the Tiffany stamp as well as other information on it. It is in perfect, uncleaned condition and could easily be brought to like-new condition. The bottom of the silver bowl has the Tiffany stamp as well. Both pieces are in excellent condition, not recently cleaned but not much tarnish on them. The silver bowl has 2 tiny dings to the rounded lip, which may not photograph well as they are small. Overall in excellent antique condition and a nice sized Tiffany acquisition at 12.5" at widest by 3 3/4" deep. Still a beautiful and usable piece today. Comparable items are hard to find, but are in the $5,000 and up range. Perfect for any silver or Tiffany collector, and representing an amazing value for such a rare piece! The centerpiece weighs 31.20 ounces of sterling silver and the brass piece is 4.70 ounces for a total weight of 35.90 ounces.
