Vintage Siam Sterling Silver Red Niello Link Bracelet
Known as "khrung thom" in Thai, silver panels are engraved with a traditional design. These panels are then carved out to show a "background." These areas are then filled with a sulphur powder mixture, then baked at a high temperature.
The usual color is charcoal black so this particular red color is quite uncommon.
These 7" bracelets were popular from 1950s to 1970s. The piece carries a mark of "Siam Sterling" which had been used as early as the 1930s.
This bracelet is comprised of seven rectangular-shaped panels measuring 20mm by 12mm each.
The panel depicts one of the popular sword-toting figures in Hindu mythology.
The individual links are connected to one another with two jump rings which allows comfort and moveability when wearing the bracelet around your wrist.
The bracelet is finished with a secure, push-in clasp.
