Here is yet another piece from my personal collection of Hall China's Red Poppy pattern in metal accessories. As stated in some of my other listings for Red Poppy, Hall first introduced this pattern in the mid 1930's and ran production of it for 20 years. A lot of these items were available through Montgomery Ward's mail order catalogs in the 1940's. As with most metal accessories, this one also displays a lot of use over the years and I simply used it as a piece in displaying my collection. This cake safe has the "lock" and "unlock" option on the lid. From the base of the lid to its top is about 5-1/2" high. The under plate is 12" wide. All of the red poppy decals and black leaves are still quite vivid, but the cake safe itself does display scratches, scuff marks and some bumps and dents, as you can see from the pictures. Some of the scratches and "dings" in the enamel are probably due to improper cleaning. To me the piece still has lots of character and appeal and I hope it does the same for you.
