This Silver Plated tray with handle was made by BERNARD RICE SONS COMPANY of NEW YORK CITY. The footed basket features a swing handle, pierced and relief design and an overall hand hammered surface texture. The elegant presentation suggests it was made in the Deco Era era, circa 1920's.
This Company was formed in the late 1890's from the merger of Apollo Silver Co., Redfield & Rice and Shepard & Rice and was known for the superb silver plate items in which they specialized.
The round tray is 6 inches across, stands just over 1 1/4 inches tall to the rim and 4 1/2 inches to the top of the handle. The foot is about 2 5/8 inches in diameter.
It is bottom marked, "APOLLO E.P.N.S. MADE IN U.S.A. BY BERNARD RICE'S SONS, INC. 3916".
The condition is excellent with no dings, dents or silver plate loss.
