Vintage Walborg Black Beaded Clutch Handbag Purse

A beautiful envelope styled black hand-beaded Hilde Walborg cocktail evening clutch handbag. Designed in a simple, elegant pattern of fine black glass beads. A beaded floral pattern graces the front flap of the bag.

A beaded handle is retractable for versatile use. The interior is fully lined in black satin and has a side pocket. The stitched in label reads, "RICHERE BAG by Walborg JAPAN". The fold over flap latches with a snap clasp.

Circa 1960's. Measures 4 3/4" high (with 2 1/2" flap closed) by 6 7/8" wide. The strap handle has a 4 1/2" hang.

Condition is excellent inside and out. The bead work is pristine with no missing or loose beads and no repairs.

Walborg handbags were treasured for their beautiful designs and fine craftsmanship. This little bag is a fine example.

History: Hilde Walborg founded the Walborg Corp in the early 1940's in New York City. She was known for her beautifully designed and finely crafted imported and beaded cocktail evening bags. Walborg created all of the designs for her beaded bags. They were made in Belgium, Italy and France in in the 1940's and 1950's. In the early 1960's she began importing beadwork from the Far East.
