Vintage Pierre Cardin Silk Tie & Pocket Square Set

The Genius Of Pierre Cardin Never Ends... This fabulous silk Necktie and Pocket Scarf is beautiful. The tie presents a sophisticated geometric design of shape angles and soft lines. It is in hues of silver gray and soft golds and ecru on black. The pocket scarf is a geometric pattern of the same colors. The set is from the 1970s and it has never been worn.

The tie measures 56 inches long by 4 inches wide. The pocket square is 10 1/2 inches. Stitched on tie label reads, "pierre cardin" and both pieces also have labels that read, "100% Silk, Made in Korea".

The lower portion of the tie has very faint vertical lines in the black field that may be from fading although I am not certain. I have captured this in my some of my photos.

This beautifully designed couture tie and pocket square are proof that vintage clothing accessories are not a trend but rather style with no end.

History: Pierre Cardin, born Pietro Cardin, is an Italian-born French haute courture designer. Cardin is known for his avant-garde style and his Space Age designs. He moved to Paris in 1945 and became head of Christian Dior's tailleure atelier.

Cardin founded his own fashion house in 1950. His career was launched when he designed about 30 of the costumes for "the party of the century", a masquerade ball at Palazzo Labia in Venice in 1951. He began with haute couture in 1953.
