Vintage Siam Buddha Blue Enameled Demitasse Spoon Set
A lovely set of six Thai Buddha blue enameled demitasse coffee spoons. The spoons are solid brass with beautiful soft blue enamel work. Each spoon is adorned with a beautiful Thai Buddha and is marked on the back, "SIAM ROYAL". The set was made in Siam - now Thailand.
The spoons measure 4 3/4" long.
The set is in excellent condition. One spoon bowl has slight tarnish (not corrosion) that can easily be polished out. The little spoons are nicely weighted. All enamel is intact with no loss or damage.
The set is in the original presentation and storage box but the box is worn and has a broken corner. There is a hand printed (pencil) personal note on the inside lid regarding the original gifting of the spoons.
Purchased at Johny's Gems, 199 Sikuk Phayasri, Bangkok, Thailand in the 1960's.
This beautiful set is sure to add intrigue and calm elegance to your coffee time. Buddha and caffeine – it's got to be the perfect balance.
History: Thailand was earlier known as Siam. However, in 1939, the county of Siam was renamed Thailand. The country was named back to Siam between the years 1945 and 1949. In 1949, the country adopted the name Thailand once again and it has remained so.
