I hate to part with this beauty! This watercolor on ivory parchment portrait miniature is from Augsburg, Germany in the late 1800s. It is encased in a lovely European Sterling setting which functions as both a pin and a locket. I love this young woman's face! She is quite exquisite with her brown curls, big black bow, and long neck. Her features are both delicate and finely executed. The lovely, late-teen wears a black off-the-shoulder dress.
It measures 2 1/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches, and is in excellent condition. It weighs 38 grams. I polished the back so the hallmarks would be visible, but dare not go any farther. My 4 daughters have written countless poems and short stories about this "mysterious young debutante." Let it inspire you!
