German Metal Chocolate Mold "Sitting Rabbit w/Basket" model 6842

What delightful objects these old molds are....once filled with decadent chocolate to produce goodies for small and big children alike. This is a nice, classic Easter rabbit complete with an empty egg basket (which, when the chocolate bunny was taken out of the mold, would have been filled with little colored candy eggs).

These European molds were used each Easter, featured in fine candy stores where the Easter chocolate window was revered as much as a Christmas tree.

This mold is large: standing 9 1/2" tall, 7" across at the base and 3" deep at the bottom center. It is made of heavy metal and has one clip. The design of the rabbit is classic, with little ripples of fur and a jaunty expression.

It is a charming reminder of happy days of childhood. It makes an amusing and happy accent to any kitchen shelf or corner.
