Antique French Miniature Miroir a Main (Hand Mirror)

With all the quality and charm of it's larger counterpart, this little mirror is quite a beauty! It dates from 1900-1910 and originates from Paris.

It is of gilded bronze with an inset of laiton (mixed metals). The inset has a 2-D figural scene "galante" with two young ladies, a bougeoir gentleman and a pretty sheep wearing a ribbon. They sit in a pastoral scene where the gentleman holds out his hat to the standing lady and her companion. The gilded bronze frame has a row of tiny dots around the inset. The handle is accented with acanthus leaves and filigree; the top of the mirror has a scrolling cartouche. The mirror glass is beveled.

The miniature hand mirror measures 5" long, the back 2 3/8" in diameter, the mirror 2 1/4" in diameter. It is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips to the glass. The metal and gilded bronze frame are in excellent condition.

It would be lovely in the hand of a larger French doll or a lovely accent to a miniature chest or commode.
