With it's wide upholstered seat and the delicately carved back this little chair brings visions of a charming country house in Provence! It comes from Paris and was created as a part of the French fashion doll industry.
It stands on four lovely legs, the back legs left plain as is traditional with country chairs. The front legs taper from top to bottom and have double molded rings at each end. The back of the chair has a pretty rectangular frame with an oval inner frame. Inside the frame is a vase of fiddle-head ferns. There is a wide band at the top with a crown which overhangs the top edge slightly on all sides. It is made of maple wood stained to a walnut finish.
The cushion is wide and is upholstered in a charming beige stripe. The upholstery is sturdy and thick as is the French style. The chair measures: 8 1/4" tall, 3 3/8" wide across the back legs, 4 1/2" wide across the front legs, 4 1/8" from front to back leg. The chair back measures 3 1/2" across, the seat measures: 5" across the front, 3 1/2" across the back and 4" deep.
It is in excellent and sound condition.
