The color of this very heavy change/cigarette holder is a brilliant shade of emerald green. Pieces such as this were fashionable desk items during the 20's and 30's.
The piece is Dutch and comes from the glass factory of Muzen Karlsbad (manuscript signature on the bottom). The etched design is so very classic of the era. An stylized egyptian influence design depicts female warriors, bows and arrows in hands, shields ready to defend, marching around the outer edge. Their hair flows out behind them, their robes float from their bodies. They are surrounded by leaves and grapes. The etched pattern still shows gilded areas, the entire surface was once brightly gilded. The design when viewed through the light is stunning, the emerald green glass filling in the shapes and background of the design.
It measures:2 1/8" tall, each triangular side, 5" long, the inside 1 7/8" deep and the thickness of the sides is3/8". It is in very good and solid condition with minor wear to the glass (light scratching to bottom panel) and etching as is typical with age. There are no visible cracks or chips to the glass.
